Summary: We are looking for a highly capable Claims Support Supervisor to join our team and work from any of the following offices in Houston, TX, Omaha, NE, Rockwood, PA, or Richmond, VA. We work together in the office five days a week to strengthen our culture, build team connections, and drive profitability. The position reports to the AVP of Claims Support based in Houston and manages a team of Claims Assistants supporting Casualty, Specialty and Workers’ Compensation Lines of Business.

This is a 100% in‑office position. Candidates must be able to work on‑site at a designated company office during standard business hours.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Successfully supervise and provide training, mentoring, and technical oversight to a small team of Claims Assistants.
  • Provide technical claim support leadership and direction with a focus on supporting the consistent execution of claims support functions, enhancement/improvement of processes and procedures, and maintenance of operational excellence.
  • Ensure performance objectives and metrics are in place and being met to support department goals.
  • Providing direction, leadership and training.
  • Managing expenditures for the team to budget / plan.
  • Support the selection process to hire and retain Claims Assistants that consistently demonstrate appropriate technical expertise, maturity and a professional commitment to excellence and customer service.
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating belief in Argo Group values and building a value‑based organization committed to long‑term success.
  • Assist with oversight of a third‑party vendor, SGS, to ensure clerical tasks are completed timely and meet quality standards.
  • Partner with key Claims Management to develop strategic and operational plans aimed at achieving efficiencies so the department meets critical success goals and the business unit meets growth and profitability targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement through initiatives involving employees, processes and technology.
  • Perform quality audits of Claims Assistants’ completed tasks to ensure best practices are met and proper financial outcomes.
  • Complete overflow tasks from the Claims Assistants to ensure all support work is completed timely.
  • Occasional work required outside of normal business hours (e.g., after close time or on weekends).
Qualifications / Experience Required
  • Understanding of management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, and coaching along with substantial knowledge supporting claims functions.
  • Minimum of four years experience supporting claims functions, with at least one year of managing people on site and/or remotely.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, or four additional years of related experience may be substituted.
  • Good business acumen, understanding how an insurance company operates and profits.
  • Independent decision maker with focus on risk and compliance, using data‑driven tools.
  • Strong focus on execution and consistently producing and delivering expected results.
  • Problem‑focused with a global mindset, flexibility, and resourcefulness in a fast‑paced environment.
