Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and highly strategic Vice President of Operations & Sales to lead and oversee all aspects of a growing industrial diesel power generation business. This role will have full P&L responsibility, oversee a workforce of approximately 75 employees, and be directly responsible for both operational excellence and top‑line revenue growth. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in diesel generator systems, experience managing large teams, and a track record of driving organizational success across sales, service, parts, and project execution.

Executive

Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead company-wide strategy and execution for sales, operations, and service within the industrial diesel power generation sector.
  • Work closely with ownership/executive stakeholders to set and achieve annual goals, growth targets, and strategic objectives.
  • Own and drive overall business performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement long-term plans to grow revenue, expand market share, and enhance service offerings.
Sales & Business Development
  • Oversee all aspects of new generator sales, rental solutions, and aftermarket services.
  • Directly manage regional and inside sales teams, including sales managers, project estimators, and account executives.
  • Establish and maintain key client relationships with large contractors, engineering firms, municipalities, industrial clients, and utilities.
  • Develop pricing strategies, large proposal reviews, and major account negotiations.
  • Track and analyze market trends and competitive intelligence to position the company for continued growth.
Operations & Service Oversight
  • Lead the operations team including field service, project managers, parts, logistics, and shop personnel.
  • Ensure efficient field service operations for maintenance, emergency response, commissioning, and warranty support.
  • Oversee the scheduling and quality control of installation projects, field repairs, and warranty work.
  • Implement and optimize KPIs for productivity, response times, job costing, and overall customer service performance.
  • Lead efforts to ensure all work meets regulatory, safety, and technical compliance standards.
People & Organizational Development
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of ~75 staff across multiple departments.
  • Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, and customer‑first service.
  • Conduct succession planning, organizational development, and professional growth programs.
  • Develop clear performance expectations and conduct regular employee evaluations and coaching.
Financial & Operational Management
  • Full P&L responsibility across sales and operations departments.
  • Monitor and report on budget, job profitability, margin control, inventory levels, and fleet utilization.
  • Oversee capital planning, equipment procurement, vendor relationships, and supply chain coordination.
Compliance, Quality, and Safety
  • Drive a culture of safety and ensure all employees follow company and OSHA regulations.
  • Establish quality control and inspection protocols across service and installation work.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to environmental, emissions, and compliance guidelines.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in power generation or industrial equipment sales/service.
  • Deep knowledge of diesel power generation (CAT, Cummins, Kohler, Generac, MTU, etc.).
  • Proven success managing sales and operational teams in a high-volume service or equipment business.
  • Strong understanding of technical specifications, power system engineering, and generator applications.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; technical or business degree preferred. MBA is a plus.
  • Ability to travel regionally as needed.
