Selby Jennings is partnered with a leading private investment firm in Houston and is seeking a Director to lead portfolio and asset management across the investment lifecycle. This role sits at the intersection of deal execution, operational value creation, and portfolio oversight; partnering closely with management teams to scale businesses and drive performance from acquisition through exit. The Director will also play a key leadership role internally, mentoring junior team members and shaping portfolio management processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead investment execution, including diligence, structuring, negotiation, and closing
  • Partner with portfolio company management teams to drive operational, financial, and strategic performance
  • Own portfolio performance relative to underwriting, budgets, and value creation plans
  • Establish KPIs, reporting frameworks, and monitoring processes across investments
  • Serve as a primary interface with boards, executives, lenders, and co-investors
  • Develop and execute realization strategies, including exits, recapitalizations, and add-on acquisitions
  • Collaborate with investment and sourcing teams to evaluate new opportunities and generate deal flow
  • Build and mentor a high-performing asset management team
  • Implement tools and best practices (including AI-driven solutions) to enhance portfolio monitoring and decision-making
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience across private equity, infrastructure/real assets investing, investment banking, or portfolio operations
  • Proven track record of leading transactions and managing investments through value creation and exit
  • Strong financial acumen, including modeling, capital structure, and return analysis
  • Experience working with management teams and boards
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or CFA preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Interest in leveraging data and technology to improve investment outcomes
