Corporate Controller

Our client is a pre‑IPO space industry company located near NASA in Houston. They seek to add a Controller to their management team to help them prepare to go public in the near to medium term. This person will be responsible for establishing all of the processes, procedures, and controls necessary to support the accounting and reporting function of a publicly traded company.

The controller will also oversee the SEC reporting function of this established, growing, and profitable governmental contractor. While the company is established and will be public, the company is entrepreneurial, so you must be comfortable leading and building teams in addition to being very "hands on" in the day‑to‑day details. The controller will work very closely with the C‑Suite in growing and operating this company!

• Lead core finance function activities (A/P, A/R, journal entries, cash management, GL) on a day‑to‑day basis
• Prepare monthly management accounts and operational results (including KPIs) and present to Executive Leadership Team
• Prepare periodic materials for presentation to audit & risk committee and board of directors
• Prepare and lead development of quarterly, annual and periodic SEC filings
• Lead preparation for periodic results presentations, investor presentations, and other investor communications
• Lead ongoing interactions with banks and other non-shareholder capital providers
• Manage outsourced service providers
• Lead interactions with external audit firm

• B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance (C.P.A. required)
• 6 to 12 years of experience preferred
• Proven working experience in a Big 4 accounting firm with audit experience with public companies is preferred
• Current experience as a SEC Reporting Director/Asst. Controller/Controller in a public-company environment is preferred but not required
• Technology and systems proficiency is a must
• Ability to direct and lead others and communicate effectively
• Proven knowledge of financial reporting and general accounting as well as accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
• Ability to engage in data analytics
• High attention to detail and accuracy

Position is based in Houston, TX near NASA's operations in Houston. There are opportunities to work remote part of the time. Salary range is competitive based on your experience with variable compensation to include cash bonus and LTIP.
