- Obtain profitable results for the region by developing the buying team through motivation, counseling, skills development, and market knowledge.
- Participate in the recruiting, hiring, and training efforts to grow the company buying staff.
- Assist in the development of regional strategies & business plan covering procurement of scrap metals, revenues & expense control. Meet agreed upon targets and promote the organization at the retail, industrial and business-to-business levels.
- Manage the purchasing administration functions & performance reporting, helping to streamline processes wherever possible.
- Ensure local, state & federal compliance of all required recycling regulations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure receipt of quality material, consistent tonnage, and credibility in the company. Advise senior management on maximizing business relationships & improving customer service.
- Clearly communicate & drive company‑wide initiatives & strategies.
- Forecast weekly, monthly, and annual volumes and margins for the region. Adjust purchase pricing through monitoring of competition and market conditions to meet forecast.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or with a team.
- Willingness to travel and relocate to other regions in the United States.
- Proven prior management of regional procurement or sales team preferred.
