Job Summary
The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) is a key member of a branch team, supporting the Branch Manager in overall branch management. The ABM focuses on maximizing revenue, driving sales, ensuring customer satisfaction, minimizing operational losses, and maintaining compliance with security and operational procedures.
Essential Functions- Assists the Branch Manager in leading the branch to achieve sales goals, including outbound calling, sales meetings, and coaching.
- Supervises designated staff members in their daily performance tasks and participates in decisions regarding employment, performance ratings, promotions, salary, transfers, and termination.
- Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially in alignment with South State Bank’s Gold Service Standards.
- Performs all functions of Senior and Front‑line Staff Representative (SR/FSR).
- Opens new deposit accounts and provides detailed explanations of financial services, including features, benefits, rules, regulations, and pricing.
- Handles additional services such as stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions within assigned limits.
- Processes all loan applications (within lending authority) and paperwork, extending credit to qualified individuals and businesses through installment, commercial, and real‑estate products.
- Assists in the collection of delinquent loans and manages loan and deposit exceptions within branch expectations.
- Ensures compliance with branch security procedures, understanding the operation of security devices to protect the facility.
- Provides leadership by setting an example for staff, personifying excellent customer relations, and promoting effective selling and cross‑selling activities.
- Resolves routine personnel problems and assists tellers in accurate daily balancing and discrepancy resolution.
- Handles customer problems and complaints with courtesy, discretion, and by explaining policies and procedures as needed.
- Ensures compliance with banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Maintains adequate supplies of money for daily transactions and oversees branch inventory of supplies.
- Conducts self-audits using the Branch Internal Control Review on a quarterly basis and complies with audit procedures.
- Presents a neat and professional appearance and maintains an orderly work area.
- Develops and maintains a sales‑culture environment and stays proficient with customer‑facing technology to enroll customers in self‑service options.

- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; BA degree and/or 2 years in banking.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Customer Service/Sales/Branch Management, prior supervisory experience, strong PC skills, prior banking experience, and demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Knowledge: Excellent leadership, communication, planning, organizational, and decision‑making skills; strong writing, training, and oral presentation abilities; customer service orientation, initiative, interpersonal skills; computer proficiency; and fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.

Must be willing to travel for meetings and classes, stand and/or sit for long periods, and effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports.
Work EnvironmentThe position is primarily in an open lobby area with an individual workstation or private office, inside a cooled and heated facility with access to a break room or restroom during breaks.
TravelTravel may be required to attend meetings and training as needed.
