The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly skilled Department Administrator to provide strategic, financial, operational, research, and human resources leadership for the Department of Cancer Systems Imaging. The Department Administrator serves as a key partner to departmental leadership, supporting faculty, staff, and research programs while ensuring effective stewardship of financial, personnel, and physical resources. The Department Administrator is responsible for driving operational excellence, compliance, and long-term departmental growth through collaborative leadership and strategic planning.

The ideal candidate will possess progressively responsible leadership experience in healthcare, academic medicine, research administration, or complex operational environments. Experience overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets, faculty affairs, sponsored research programs, operational planning, and large teams is highly preferred. Strong leadership, relationship-building, communication, financial, and analytical skills are essential.

Responsibilities include financial, budget & administrative leadership, human resources, faculty affairs & operations, compliance, facilities & resource management, research operations & clinical service management, and strategic planning & development.

Education:

Required:

Bachelor's Degree. Preferred:
Master's Degree.

Experience:

Required:

Seven years progressive and responsible healthcare / research or business management experience to include three years in a management role. Five years progressive and responsible healthcare, research or business management experience to include three years in a management role, with Master's degree. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Preferred:
Experience in an academic research environment with responsibility for pre-award and post-award grant management, sponsored research administration, faculty affairs, human resources functions, financial planning, and operational oversight of departmental research programs.

Other requirements:
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
