Manage Southland's Mechanical/piping pre-fabrication process in a safe and controlled environment. Implement and enforce process controls to ensure that all aspects of each project are coordinated and completed in a timely, efficient, safe, and profitable manner.
Plan, schedule, and direct all activities related to in-house Mechanical/piping fabrication.
Work with estimators, engineers, and virtual design specialists to discuss project specifications, pre-fab opportunities, and other potential cost-savings ideas.
Develop shop schedule and ensure projects are completed accordingly.
Develop and implement quality control program. Ensure fabricated products consistently conform to established standards and specifications.
Hire and manage assembly personnel adequate for achieving the shop's goals and objectives. Mentor and provide proper training.
Oversee inventory maintenance of related production materials and supplies.
Develop a historical database to track manpower, project, and process costs. Prepare related reports upon request.
Implement and monitor Southland's safety program, adherence to OSHA regulations, and compliance with shop safety requirements as they relate to Southland personnel and shop visitors.
Communicate frequently and maintain good working relationships with key project personnel. Ensure pre-fabrication remains a viable and practical solution and constant consideration when developing project execution plans.
Implement and integrate BOWS system into relevant work processes to improve productivity and product quality.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to maximize production costs and quality.
Ensure all shop equipment is in good working order.
Monitor and resolve matters relating to work procedures, complaints, damages, accidents, and delays.
Complete the manager's daily report each day.
Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
High school degree or equivalent (2-yr. degree in Construction Technology or related studies a plus)
10 years of Mechanical/piping construction experience (or equivalent combination of training and related experience)
OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire)
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods)
Thorough knowledge of company policies, procedures and standards
Excellent communication and supervisory skills
Outstanding organizational and technical skills
Solid MS Office skills
