Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead the hands‑on execution of the organization’s Environmental, Health & Safety program across multiple operational facilities, fleet operations, terminals, maintenance shops, warehouses, and field personnel. This field‑oriented leadership role will partner closely with Operations, Fleet, Maintenance, Human Resources, and leadership to implement safety programs, strengthen employee engagement, improve regulatory compliance, reduce operational risk, and ensure consistent execution of EHS standards across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Execute and continuously improve company‑wide EHS policies, procedures, programs, and performance expectations across operational locations.
  • Provide visible, hands‑on safety leadership across terminals, fleet operations, maintenance shops, warehouses, and field personnel.
  • Conduct facility inspections, field audits, fleet safety evaluations, jobsite observations, operational risk reviews, and safety assessments across multiple locations.
  • Drive compliance with OSHA, DOT and FMCSA requirements, including commercial fleet and driver safety, hazardous materials transportation, vehicle inspections, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead incident and vehicle accident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective and preventive actions, follow‑up, and documentation to reduce recurrence.
  • Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, driver safety programs, emergency response training, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Coach supervisors, drivers, field personnel, and operational leaders on hazard recognition, safe work practices, regulatory requirements, and corrective actions.
  • Build accountability for safety performance while creating an approachable EHS presence that encourages frontline employee feedback and participation.
  • Partner with the Safety Specialist on compliance documentation, metrics, audit findings, environmental requirements, training records, and regulatory reporting.
  • Support the implementation of scalable EHS standards as operations expand organically and through acquisition, helping integrate new facilities and employees into consistent company practices.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Fleet, Maintenance, Human Resources, Insurance, Legal, and leadership to strengthen safety culture and operational execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing incidents, fleet risk, regulatory exposure, and unsafe behaviors while improving operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated safety leadership experience within transportation, logistics, industrial manufacturing, construction, energy, chemical processing, petroleum, hazardous materials, or other operational environments.
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of OSHA requirements and DOT/FMCSA commercial fleet and transportation safety regulations.
  • Experience conducting field inspections, fleet safety evaluations, regulatory audits, incident and accident investigations, root cause analyses, safety training, and corrective action implementation.
  • Experience supporting commercial drivers, vehicle safety, hazardous materials transportation, and multi‑site operational environments.
  • Proven ability to influence frontline employees and operational leadership, implement change, build employee engagement, and establish a proactive safety culture.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to operate effectively in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CDS, CHMM, or other applicable EHS credentials.
  • Experience supporting multi‑site fleet, terminal, maintenance, petroleum/fuel, hazardous materials, or emergency response operations.
  • Experience interacting with DOT, FMCSA, DPS, TxDOT commercial vehicle enforcement, OSHA, or other regulatory/enforcement agencies.
  • Demonstrated success improving safety performance metrics and implementing scalable EHS programs across growing operational environments.
Physical Requirements
