MEP Project Manager—Healthcare Sector Lead (Houston, TX)

WSP is seeking an experienced MEP project manager to develop new clients and projects in the healthcare sector, leading project teams and fostering client relationships. The role balances business development and project delivery, with an evolving split of roughly 25% business development and 75% project work.

Responsibilities

Drive the development of new clients and projects in the healthcare sector.

Lead project teams to deliver projects and grow client relationships.

Execute strategic initiatives across the four pillars of the business:
Clients, People & Culture, Operational Excellence, and Expertise.

Clients
  • Drive the performance of the facility-based higher education-focused business and strategically grow our market share to fulfill our goal of making WSP our clients' preferred, trusted advisor.
  • Manage local client coordination and cross-selling efforts in coordination with Region, District, National Business Lines, and Pursuit Management.
  • Represent the firm in the facility-specific healthcare market through regular involvement in client and industry events and associations to promote intelligence gathering and pipeline development.
  • Bring an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings across all end markets.
  • Utilize our extended reach of technical and subject matter experts (SMEs) across regions, districts, offices, and the globe to foster new and innovative client delivery.
People & Culture
  • Work with the Regional Development Director and Local Business Line Leader to attract the best industry talent by fostering a collaborative work environment, values inclusion and diversity, and inviting broad, creative thinking – crafting a more attractive place to work, grow, and thrive.
  • Emphasize employee training and development to create a unique work experience.
  • Inspire, motivate, and promote the best of WSP to our clients and communities to ensure strong employee engagement and morale.

Operational Excellence
  • Optimize the client and employee experience through regular reviews while embracing process improvement.
  • Focus on innovation and collaboration while maintaining and improving quality.
  • Develop local growth, forecast, and business development strategy in collaboration with District, Region, and National Business Line Leaders.
  • Resolve conflict and other internal/external issues that may arise in the office, among WSP's client base, or on projects.
  • Collaborate with regional, district leaders and other area leaders to strategically drive the business, assess and suggest improvements for project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
    Sales, Funding, EBITDA, Staff Hiring and Retention, DSO, Utilization, Backlog, Inclusion & Diversity, and Guiding Principles.
Expertise
  • Leverage our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings.
  • Foster the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in our industry.
  • Advance the region's strategic direction in the location of responsibility for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan.
  • Encourage, support, and promote the technical and professional development of local WSP staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in the Healthcare Industry, focusing on a combination of any of the following:
    Engineering Management, Business Development, and Business and Operations Management.
  • Professional Engineering license or Architectural license required.
  • Previous Healthcare consulting experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mechanical or Electrical design, particularly in the Healthcare industry.
  • Known in the local community with an extensive network.
  • Proficient with engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
