Power Transitions seeks an experienced Project Developer to lead the full lifecycle of large-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects, from site origination to construction. Reporting to the Manager of Redevelopment, this role involves strategic leadership in deal structuring, permitting, interconnection, and power offtake agreements, while coordinating across internal teams and managing external relationships with utilities, regulators, and investors. The ideal candidate will have deep industry knowledge, an ownership mentality, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:Project Development & Execution:
- Originate development opportunities, manage a bidding processes and lead the development of natural gas, solar, wind, and BESS projects across strategic U.S. markets.
- Oversee all phases of project development, including site control, permitting, environmental compliance, engineering, procurement of long lead equipment, fuel supply, energy off-take, stakeholder interface, interconnection, CAPEX and OPEX pricing and financing.
- Evaluate and report economic feasibility, market conditions, and regulatory risks to drive informed decision-making.
- Structure and negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs), tolling arrangements, utility wheeling, energy storage contracts, consultant and execution agreements, and develop merchant energy strategies.
- Navigate interconnection and transmission processes across major ISOs/RTOs, including CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, and MISO.
- Oversee regulatory approvals, permitting, stakeholder outreach, and compliance with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Monitor renewable energy policy changes and their impact on project viability and investment strategies.
- Lead project economic modeling, risk analysis, and investment case development for executive and investor approvals, including participation in presentations as needed.
- Drive project development budgeting, CAPEX and OPEX pricing, capital structuring and financing strategies, including tax equity, debt financing, and development capital for large-scale projects.
- Manage RFP responses and bid submissions for corporate and utility offtake agreements.
- Serve as a senior leader and mentor within the development team, fostering innovation and excellence, maintain customer and stakeholder relationships through commercial operations.
- Establish and maintain project specific and strategic relationships with utilities, suppliers, consultants, contractors, corporate buyers, landowners, regulators, and investors.
- Represent Power Transitions at industry conferences, investor meetings, and regulatory forums.
Education and Licenses
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, Finance or a related field;
- 10+ years of leadership experience in renewable energy development, investment, or infrastructure redevelopment.
- Proven track record of developing and executing natural gas, solar, wind, and BESS projects in the U.S.
- Expertise in project financing, commercial structuring, and regulatory strategy.
- Strong understanding of energy markets, power contracts, and interconnection processes.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex stakeholder negotiations.
Skills - Deep technical expertise in renewable energy project development and execution.
- Strong financial modeling, economic analysis, and deal structuring abilities.
- Expertise in PPA negotiations, energy market participation, and risk management.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to anticipate project and corporate needs and have ability to manage and progress work assignments independently; ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize work across several reporting lines under deadline.
- Ability to work as part of complex, cross-functional team.
- Ability to work directly with senior managers and relay concepts in a direct and impact-oriented manner.
