Assembler, Manufacturing ​/ Production

Talascend is currently seeking an Assembler for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, TX.

Responsible for producing assemblies and sub-assemblies by assembling parts and components, following work instructions, and conducting quality control checks.

• Produces assemblies and sub-assemblies by assembling parts and components.
• Reads and utilizes work instructions.
• Uses hand tools or soldering irons to assemble parts.
• Conducts quality control checks with inspection and tests.
• Practices Lean 5S techniques such as cleaning and maintaining work area and equipment, including tools.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
• Solder through-hole wires and components to PCBA.
• Escalate issues to Team Lead or Supervisor.
• Recommend process improvements to eliminate waste and improve efficiencies.
• Glue units closed using 2-part methacrylate adhesive.

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3+ years solder experience with SMT and TH components down to 0402 size
• 2+ years electrical and mechanical assembly experience

• Mechanical and technical skills
• Safety management mindset
• Focus on quality control, process improvement and teams
• Dexterity and hand-eye coordination, including the ability to grasp, manipulate, and assemble parts and components that are often very small
• Knowledge of soldering to an IPC
  610 class II standard.
• Ability to do basic tasks on a computer
• Ability to read and understand ISO work instructions
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods.
• Ability to grasp and use hand tools for long periods of time to cut plastic.
• May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.

• Experience in soldering
• Experience in Lean 5S and quality improvement
