Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Industrial mechanics are responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial machinery and equipment within a factory or production facility, including tasks like troubleshooting malfunctions, disassembling and replacing broken parts, performing preventative maintenance, calibrating equipment, and ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently, often using technical blueprints and manuals to diagnose issues and complete repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Regularly inspecting and servicing machinery to identify potential issues before they become major breakdowns, including cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments. Diagnosing malfunctions by analyzing machine behavior, error codes, and technical data, then disassembling equipment to repair or replace faulty components. Ordering and installing necessary replacement parts for machinery. Ensuring machinery operates within specified parameters by calibrating and adjusting settings as needed. Interpreting technical drawings and manufacturer instructions to understand equipment operation and proper repair procedures.
Performing minor fabrication tasks like welding or cutting metal to repair damaged parts Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures while working with industrial machinery Maintaining detailed logs of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used Other duties may be assigned. Requirements / Experience
High school diploma or GED is required
Minimum 5 years of related experience within the power generation, energy and/or oil and gas industries Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including gears, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatics Basic understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting electrical issues on industrial equipment Skilled use of various hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions Capability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer manuals Ability to prioritize tasks, manage schedules, and maintain accurate records.
Knowledge in aspects of rotating machinery and/or oil and gas facility operations
Ability to adapt to fast-paced, multi-faceted working environment and new businesses Office based role in Houston, Texas
Work environment:
Industrial manufacturing facilitiesOften noisy and physically demanding
Exposure to various chemicals and hazardous materials
May require working in shifts or on call for emergencies
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
