About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented Raw Materials Buyer to manage the full lifecycle of material procurement for our high-precision CNC manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for estimating, sourcing, and purchasing metals used in critical Aerospace, Defense, and Oil & Gas applications. You will also be responsible for maintaining inventory levels and ensuring that all materials meet the rigorous quality standards required for our industries.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Sourcing & Purchasing:
Estimate material needs from job requirements, identify reliable suppliers, and negotiate pricing for raw metals.
Inventory Management:
Utilize our ERP system to cut purchase orders, assign materials to specific jobs, and maintain real-time inventory accuracy.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Review Material Specifications and Material Test Reports (MTRs) to ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements.
Innovative Process Improvement:
When permissible, leverage AI tools to automate and streamline the comparison of MTRs against complex material specifications to improve speed and accuracy.
Supplier Relations:
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolve any material discrepancies or quality issues.
U.S. Citizenship:
Due to CUI NOFORN (Controlled Unclassified Information—Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals) requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens without dual citizenship.
Technical Literacy:
Ability to accurately read and interpret technical material specifications and MTRs.
ERP
Experience:
Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems for purchasing, inventory tracking, and job costing.
Industry Background:
Experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically with metals for Aerospace or Oil & Gas, is highly preferred.
3+ years of experience in raw material procurement for CNC machining.
Familiarity with "speeds and feeds" or general machining parameters to assist in accurate material estimation.
Openness to integrating AI workflows for data verification and supply chain optimization.
