Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Welder Inspector, where your expertise will ensure the highest standards of welding quality and safety across construction and manufacturing projects. In this vital role, you will meticulously inspect welded components, verify compliance with industry codes, and collaborate closely with welders and fabricators to uphold precision and integrity. Your keen eye for detail and mechanical knowledge will help drive project success while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
- Conduct thorough inspections of welded structures using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Review blueprints, schematics, and welding procedures to ensure adherence to project specifications and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes & standards.
- Perform visual and non‑destructive testing (NDT) on welds involving MIG, TIG, FCAW, SAW techniques across various materials, including heavy and medium fabrications, pipe systems, and structural steel.
- Identify welding defects or deviations from specifications, document findings accurately in detailed reports for corrective action.
- Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and project managers to resolve quality issues promptly while maintaining safety protocols on construction sites or manufacturing floors.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, power tools, hand tools, and rigging equipment to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Support fabrication processes by inspecting assembly work, pipe threading, machining tasks, soldering, and plasma cutting operations.
- Extensive fabrication experience with knowledge of safety standards and site protocols.
- Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, and FCAW welding techniques.
- Strong ability to read blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and welding procedures.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge, including rigging, pipe threading, machining operations, and assembly procedures.
- Familiarity with ASME & AWS codes & standards governing welding quality for manufacturing projects.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tolerances.
- Experience working with cranes in manufacturing facilities.
- Ability to interpret engineering prints of mechanical assemblies.
