Overview

Position Summary

The laborer/helper will assist with production, perform general labor tasks, maintain plant housekeeping, assist with routine maintenance on plant and equipment, and provide assistance in all areas of the plant as needed.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including shoveling spillage areas, lubricating machinery, monitoring plant conveyors, shakers, crushers, feeders, and pumps, performing heavy ground maintenance, and inspecting the plant daily.
  • Maintain yard and equipment.
  • Clean conveyor belt areas, perform minor preventive maintenance, and replace worn/damaged components as needed. Assist with other maintenance as required.
  • Follow all safety and environmental rules, regulations, and procedures as set forth by company policies, MSHA/OSHA, TCEQ and other regulators.
  • Assist with operation of equipment such as skid steer and water truck as needed.
  • Adhere to MSHA/OSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform duties with minimum supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 1 year industrial plant, construction, or related experience
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Must be available to work 12-hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to read equipment operating manual.
  • Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection report.
  • Must be able to read and interpret gauges.
  • Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment.
  • Must be service oriented with proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to follow instructions as well as make some independent decisions.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Physical Requirements
  • Must wear a hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders on a repetitive basis.
  • Must be able to use tools such as brooms/mops, shovels, weed eater, wheelbarrow and similar to perform duties.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend and lift up to 50 lbs. from ground to waist level on a repetitive basis.
  • Must work outside in all weather conditions and noise levels up to 90 dB.
  • Must be able to work at various heights and have good hand/eye coordination.
  • Must be able to operate hand/foot controls and read gauges at distances up to 150 feet.
  • Must be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and service.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, or kneel in limited spaces in the cab of a vehicle.
  • Must be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods (up to 10+ hours per day).
Working Conditions

There may be times when outdoor assignments require work in all weather conditions. Areas may have heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty conditions. Noise levels may be high.
