Job Summary

The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that materials, components, and finished products meet established quality standards, engineering specifications, and customer requirements. This role involves performing detailed inspections, interpreting technical documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.

Job Description
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, and technical instructions to perform inspections
  • Inspect incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products in accordance with specifications and AQL sampling plans
  • Verify that manufactured products meet quality standards, engineering requirements, and customer expectations
  • Perform routine audits of red tag bins to ensure compliance with nonconformance (NCR) procedures
  • Identify and communicate quality issues; recommend corrective actions to improve product quality
  • Initiate corrective action requests when quality concerns arise
  • Participate in investigations related to customer complaints, nonconforming materials, and returned goods
  • Read and interpret material test reports, including heat treat and mechanical certifications
  • Maintain and distribute accurate quality records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards by reporting unsafe conditions or behaviors
  • Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement (CI) initiatives
  • Follow all verbal and written instructions and maintain adherence to established processes
Skills Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with ERP systems and Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, optical comparators, hardness testers, and height gauges
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, material certifications, and heat treat/mechanical test reports
  • Knowledge of assembly inspection, manufacturing processes, in-process inspection, ECN processes, and GD&T
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle ERP systems
  • Experience with Entropy QMS
  • Familiarity with Adobe software
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ANSI, ASME, and ISO 9001
  • Experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), including FARO or ROMER arms
Education
  • Required:

    High school diploma or GED
Additional requirements
  • Schedule notes: 1st shift - 6AM-2:30PM, M - F, some daily overtime and weekend work may be occasionally required
  • Work performed in an enclosed quality lab within a manufacturing/shop environment
  • Open workspace with regular interaction across production teams
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and gloves
Pay rate
  • $25 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
