About the RoleThe Shop Floor Hand plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of a manufacturing or production environment by assisting skilled tradespeople and machine operators. This role requires adaptability and a willingness to learn, as the individual will work closely with different teams to meet production targets. Ultimately, the Shop Floor Hand helps to optimize workflow and supports the overall success of the manufacturing process.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, standing for extended periods, and manual dexterity.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or production setting.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and machinery.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and quality control principles.
- Ability to read and understand simple work instructions or diagrams.
- Assist machine operators and technicians with setup, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
- Transport materials and components to and from workstations to ensure continuous production flow.
- Perform routine cleaning and organization of the shop floor to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishment.
- Follow all safety protocols and report any hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately.
- Support quality control processes by inspecting products and reporting defects or inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and deadlines.
The Shop Floor Hand uses physical stamina and manual dexterity daily to handle materials and assist with equipment operation. Attention to detail is essential when inspecting products and maintaining a clean work environment to ensure safety and quality standards are met. Communication skills are important for coordinating with team members and reporting issues promptly.
