Night Shift (6 PM – 6 AM)
Position Summary
As a Cab Crane Operator
, you will operate an overhead crane from an elevated cab to move steel plates, pipe, and structural materials throughout the facility.
This role requires strong hand-eye coordination, situational awareness, and a commitment to safety. You will work closely with production, welding, and yard teams to ensure materials are moved efficiently without compromising safety or product quality.
This is a night shift role (6 PM – 6 AM) requiring focus, discipline, and consistent execution.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Operate cab-controlled overhead cranes to move steel materials safely and efficiently
- Lift, position, and transport loads including plate, pipe, and structural steel
- Follow all rigging signals and communication protocols with ground personnel
- Inspect crane equipment and rigging before use to ensure safe operation
- Maintain precise control to prevent load swing, damage, or safety hazards
- Support production flow by staging materials for welding, fitting, and processing
- Identify and report equipment issues or unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times
What It Takes to Be Successful
- Proven experience operating cab-controlled overhead cranes in an industrial environment
- Strong understanding of load control, balance, and safe lifting practices
- Ability to read and respond to hand signals and radio communication
- High level of situational awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to operate smoothly and consistently in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong commitment to safety and following procedures
- Dependable and able to maintain focus during 12-hour night shifts
Preferred Experience (Strongly Valued)
- Experience handling steel plate, pipe, or large structural materials
- Familiarity with rigging equipment (slings, chains, hooks, etc.)
- Prior experience in manufacturing or steel service center environments
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently on a routine basis and handle materials safely as part of daily job duties.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and maintain safe body positioning while performing tasks and moving through the work area, including walking on concrete floors and uneven surfaces.
- Frequent squatting, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting, requiring full-body mobility, balance, and upper- and lower-body strength to perform work safely.
- Manual agility to operate tools safely and effectively, with regular use of arms, shoulders, and back for lifting, reaching, and positioning tasks.
- Ability to work safely in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
- Maintain adequate visual and auditory acuity to safely perform assigned tasks, including but not limited to: identifying potential hazards, reading and/or recording measurements, inspecting materials, and responding promptly to verbal instructions, alarms or hand signals in the work environment
