Clean Harbors in Houston, TX location is looking for a Container Mechanic
. The role involves sanding, prep work, inspecting, fabricating, cutting, welding, patching tarps or replacing tarps on containers at Clean Harbors locations and customer sites such as refineries. The position also requires logging all time and material entries into an electronic repair order system and a valid driver’s license.

- Ensure that health and safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting safely at all times.
- Perform compliance and safety inspections; correct equipment deficiencies and perform preventative maintenance on company‑owned equipment.
- Perform welding, cutting, grinding, mechanical repair, and all other metal‑working techniques consistent with the container repair trade.
- Maintain established shop housekeeping and building maintenance obligations as well as welding systems, general repair equipment, and shop tools.
- Prepare equipment surfaces before painting; apply paint or similar coatings using HVLP, airless, or manual tooling and processes.
- Fabricate, cut, and weld roll‑off containers.
- Produce quality products while adhering to given standards.
- Log all necessary entries of time and materials into the electronic repair order system.
- Keep the company truck clean, tidy, and free of hazards at all times.
- Perform other welding duties and tasks as assigned by management to meet business needs.
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, metalworking, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Welding (MIG & Stick) and mechanical experience in a fabrication/repair shop environment
- Experience performing flat welding with steel preferred
- Successful completion of a Structural Welding Test
- Welding certification considered an asset
- Ability and willingness to wear a respirator; must be clean shaven
- Valid driver’s license and clean 3‑year driving record required
- Proficient in using an electronic repair order system
