Responsibilities- The NDT Technician will be responsible for preparing inspection tools and supporting equipment for transportation to the job site.
- Assist customers and field personnel in the preparation, setup, mechanical refurbishment, cleaning, and maintaining paperwork connected with each project.
- Progress rapidly in order to advance to levels requiring more knowledge of the basic tool functions.
- The onsite assignment will be either at a refinery or a tank farm; inspection work is to be done 80% of the time inside an above‑ground storage tank.
- Tank Bottom Inspection – Utilizing MFL.
- Corner Weld Inspection – Requires weld preparation and PT or MT.
- Bottom Weld Inspection – Vacuum Box and/or Visual.
- Ultrasonic – Internal and External.
- API 653 – Internal and External.
Physical demands: must be able to work on hands and knees and crawl into tight spaces (kneeling/squatting 5‑20 minutes up to 20 times per hour), work in environment with extreme heat or cold temperatures, work in limited lighting, potential to work at elevated heights, lift up to 280 lbs. with assistance, push/pull with force up to 102 lbs., etc.
Qualifications and Skills- Extended periods of travel > 60‑70%.
- Willing to spend 80% of onsite time inside an above‑ground storage tank.
- Maintain a valid US Passport.
- 2‑year Degree in Mechanical or Electronic discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- Maintain a valid TWIC card (a plus).
- Computer literacy – existing knowledge of MS Word & Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Prior NDT experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish (a plus).
- Tank Bottom Inspection – Utilizing MFL.
- Corner Weld Inspection – Requires weld preparation and PT or MT.
- Bottom Weld Inspection – Vacuum Box and/or Visual.
- UT – Internal and External.
- API 653 Certification – Internal and External tank bottom evaluation/laser profiling (a plus).
- Able to follow established HSE procedures and OSHA/DOT regulations.
- Successful completion of a drug screen test, background check and physical performance evaluation including a vision exam as applicable to the position.
