While not a formal supervisory role, the Lead Machine Operator may provide direction, training, and support to other operators and production team members as assigned.

Success in the first 12 months includes maintaining production efficiency, minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring quality standards are met, promoting safe work practices, and serving as a reliable resource for the production team.

What You Will Do

  • Set up and calibrate machinery to meet production specifications and product quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and perform minor repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel to resolve major equipment issues.
  • Lead daily machine operations and provide guidance to operators during assigned shifts or projects.
  • Train and assist new team members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and production processes.
  • Inspect packaged products to ensure proper weight, sealing, labeling, and overall quality.
  • Maintain accurate production records, machine logs, and daily operational reports.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the bagging facility.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience operating automated machinery in a manufacturing, production, packaging, or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform minor repairs.

  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, operating instructions, and technical manuals.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, mechanics, industrial technology, or a related field.
  • Experience operating automated bagging, packaging, or material handling equipment.
  • Previous experience providing leadership, training, or direction to production team members.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
What to Expect

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, mechanical troubleshooting, and working in a fast‑paced production environment. You will spend most of your day operating and monitoring bagging equipment, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining quality and safety standards. The work requires attention to detail, quick decision‑making, and the ability to respond effectively to equipment issues as they arise.
