Our Tell Manufacturing brand is growing and we are looking for a QA/Process Engineer II to join our team in Houston, Texas. This is an on‑site position supporting daily operations and continuous improvement efforts across our facility.

What would you do as our QA/Process Engineer II?

The QA/Process Engineer II supports daily operations and continuous improvement efforts across multiple production cells in the Houston facility. This role leads cost‑reduction initiatives, develops and improves manufacturing processes, and provides technical leadership to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and at the highest quality.

You would also:

  • Identify, evaluate, and execute cost‑reduction opportunities across manufacturing processes, materials, scrap, labor utilization, and tooling.
  • Prepare ROI analyses, project justifications, and implementation plans for improvement projects.
  • Track and report performance results after implementation.
  • Ensure new products, engineering changes, and revisions are introduced into production efficiently and cost‑effectively.
  • Validate processes, conduct trials, and resolve issues prior to SOP.
  • Lead cross‑functional root cause investigations using structured problem‑solving tools (5‑Why, Fishbone, 8D, DMAIC).
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor equipment capability and stability through SPC and data analysis.
  • Identify early signs of equipment deterioration and partner with Maintenance to plan repairs or upgrades.
  • Address manufacturing and customer concerns involving product design, process capability, supplier components, or non‑conforming material.
  • Support PFMEA updates, control plans, and process flow mapping for multiple production cells.
  • Lead efforts to reduce scrap, rework, and non‑conforming material.
  • Champion lean manufacturing principles across assigned areas.
  • Ensure 5S standards are followed and sustained.
  • Manage mid‑level capital and process improvement projects, coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Support budgeting, timelines, vendor selection, and commissioning activities.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
The Skills and Experience You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving metal fabrication, assembly, or commercial building products.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, cost‑reduction projects, process validation, and troubleshooting required.
  • Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing operations, cell manufacturing, workflow design, and production statistics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
  • Proven experience leading cost‑savings and process‑improvement projects.
  • Skilled in analyzing data to optimize throughput, yield, and labor efficiency.
  • Proficient in problem‑solving techniques (8D, Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering.
  • Proficient in CAD tools;
    Solid Works experience preferred.
  • Mini Tab or similar statistical software experience preferred.
  • Project management experience with capital or process initiatives preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 5‑10% as needed.
