Mold Maker

Alcon is looking for a Mold Maker to work at our Manufacturing Facility in Houston, TX. This role focuses on precision repair, maintenance, and optimization of injection molds for high‑volume production.

• Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of injection molds, including multi‑cavity and hot‑runner systems.
• Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, and rebuild tooling components to restore performance and extend mold life.
• Machine and fit precision components using toolroom equipment such as mills, grinders, lathes, and polishing tools.
• Analyze mold failures and defects (flash, short shots, dimensional issues) and implement corrective actions.
• Interpret and work from engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on molds according to schedule and best practices.
• Clearly communicate mold condition, repair status, and root‑cause findings.
• Document maintenance, repairs, and preventive activities in Maximo (CMMS) to ensure accurate records, traceability, and compliance with quality standards.
• Collaborate with Molding Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to resolve tooling‑related issues and proactively identify potential problems before they become failures.
• Make decisions within the scope of tasks, applying technical skills and problem‑solving abilities.
• Adhere to GxP regulations by following SOPs, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring rigorous quality control.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
• Proven experience in injection mold repair and precision toolmaking, including multi‑cavity and hot‑runner systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, mold designs, and CAD models.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a systematic, root‑cause–driven approach to mold and tooling issues.
• Skilled with precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges.
• Familiarity with mold disassembly, inspection, fitting, and reassembly processes.
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in a toolroom or high‑precision production setting.
• CMMS experience and basic computer skills.

Onsite, Houston, TX.

Work Hours:

Wednesday – Saturday, 4:00am – 2:30pm (10‑hour shift).
