Job OverviewLofton Staffing is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC Lathe and/or Mill equipment to produce precision components for downhole tools and related industrial products. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity through Lofton Staffing with strong long-term potential.
The ideal candidate has hands-on CNC setup experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and is comfortable working with G-code programs and threaded components.
Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes for production and first article runs
Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements, tolerances, and setup procedures
Work with new product introductions and ensure production readiness
Edit, adjust, and verify CNC programs (G-code familiarity required)
Produce and inspect a variety of threads including straight and taper threads (Acme and buttress experience preferred)
Select and install tooling, fixtures, and materials for machining operations
Set machine controls including speed, feed rate, coolant flow, and depth of cut
Monitor machining operations to detect issues and make necessary adjustments
Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
Perform basic machine maintenance and report equipment issues as needed
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Collaborate with engineers and production staff to resolve machining issues
Required Skills & QualificationsMinimum 5 years CNC machining experience OR technical certification with 1+ year of experience
Strong experience with CNC lathe and/or mill setup and operation
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
G-code knowledge required
Experience producing and inspecting threaded components (straight and taper threads; Acme/buttress preferred)
Ability to use precision measuring tools and perform in-process inspections
Owns required machinist tools and toolbox
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
