Dover Precision Components ('DPC') is part of Dover Corporation's Pumps and Process solutions segment and provides mission‑critical equipment components for various industries.
2nd Shift CNC MachinistWill setup, adjust and operate CNC lathes and (predominantly) mills and special types of machine tools. This role will also perform diversified machining operations largely on standard work having tolerance and finish specifications, requiring a general knowledge of machining practices and techniques.
Hours: 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm M-F.
What You'll Do:- Work from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
- Edit CNC programs to manufacture parts per blueprint/drawings.
- Perform machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
- Obtain required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and performs inspections on work‑in‑progress using a wide variety of measuring devices.
- Complete and maintain all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms, etc. for each job.
- Make jigs, fixtures or other specialized non‑production devices as qualified and assigned.
- Perform first piece inspections on basic product for other machinists, as qualified and assigned.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
- Troubleshoot drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc. and make competent decisions pertaining to the job at hand.
- Maintain and monitor machine shop equipment. Safeguard against improper use and incorrect set‑ups to prevent extensive damage to machine or specific sections.
- Detect errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of trade school apprenticeship or equivalent shop experience as a machinist.
- Proficiency in shop math and blueprint reading.
- Clear communication, both oral and written.
- Organization skills; keep area clean to 5S standards.
- Ability to meet productivity standards by completing work in a timely manner.
- Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently. Periodic lifting of moderate to heavy items may be required. Possesses good hand/eye coordination.
- Normal operations require eye protection, steel‑toed footwear, and occasionally hand protection.
- Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise. Limited disagreeable factors present.
