CNC Mill Machinist

(Houston, TX): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a
Vertical Mill CNC Machinist for a contract assignment in South Houston. The Vertical Mill CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC Vertical Milling Machines to manufacture precision components while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. This role requires the ability to independently perform machine setups, edit programs, interpret technical drawings, and ensure all machined parts meet required specifications.

• Set up, program, and operate CNC Vertical Milling Machines utilizing Fanuc or similar CNC controls.
• Independently perform machine setups, including tooling selection, fixture setup, work offsets, and calculating speeds and feeds.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, GD&T requirements, and technical specifications.
• Edit and optimize CNC programs to improve machining efficiency, cycle times, and part quality.
• Perform first-piece inspections and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, indicators, and other inspection equipment.
• Select appropriate cutting tools and machining strategies based on material type and part requirements.
• Monitor machine operations and make program or tooling adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, tooling problems, and equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Complete production documentation, inspection reports, and shop travelers accurately.
• Verify material heat numbers, quantities, and traceability requirements.
• Notify Production Supervisor or Quality Control personnel of any nonconforming materials or products.
• Follow Quality Management System requirements and established machining procedures.
• Utilize required PPE and participate in daily safety meetings.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, and team members.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support production goals and company objectives.

• Minimum 3+ years of CNC Vertical Mill machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with CNC Vertical Milling Machines and Fanuc or similar CNC controls.
• Ability to independently perform machine setups, tool changes, and program edits.
• Proficiency with G-code programming and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience machining various materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steels, and other metals.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining best practices.
• Strong understanding of precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to speak and read English; bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Strong mathematical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Ability to stand for extended periods while operating machining equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as required.
• Ability to safely operate machinery and material‑handling equipment.
• Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE.
