Process Engineering Technician
The Process Engineering Technician supports manufacturing operations by implementing, maintaining, and improving production processes to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput targets are achieved. This role assists with production line setup, troubleshooting process issues, validating equipment and tooling, supporting new product introductions (NPI), and maintaining manufacturing documentation.
This position works closely with Process Engineering, Production, Quality, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Production Process Support- Support daily manufacturing operations to maintain stable and efficient production processes
- Troubleshoot assembly, testing, and packaging process issues on production lines
- Assist in root cause analysis for process failures, quality escapes, and downtime events
- Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Assist with production line setup, workstation preparation, tooling installation, and process validation
- Support equipment qualification, setup verification, and first article builds
- Perform equipment calibration checks and routine preventive maintenance coordination
- Support installation and relocation of production equipment and fixtures
- Create and maintain:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Work Instructions (WIs)
- Process flow diagrams
- Setup checklists
- Equipment parameter sheets
- Visual aids and operator training documents
- Ensure documentation matches actual manufacturing process
- Support pilot builds, engineering builds, and production ramp activities
- Assist with golden unit builds and process validation
- Collect process data during trial builds
- Support engineering changes (ECO/ECN) implementation
- Monitor production KPIs:
- Yield
- UPH (Units Per Hour)
- Cycle time
- Downtime
- Scrap
- Rework
- Assist with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects
- Participate in line balancing and workstation optimization
- Support 5S and visual factory initiatives
- Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality standards and workmanship requirements
- Support process audits and compliance checks
- Assist with ESD compliance verification where required
- Support failure analysis and defect reduction initiatives
- Train operators on new processes, tools, fixtures, and updated work instructions
- Provide floor support during product launches and process changes
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or related field
- OR high school diploma/GED with equivalent manufacturing technical experience
- 2+ years experience in manufacturing, production engineering, or process technician role
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing
- Experience with production equipment, fixtures, tooling, and troubleshooting
- Server assembly
- Rack integration
- System testing
- Burn-in testing
- Packaging operations
- SMT/PCBA familiarity
- NPI manufacturing support
- Liquid cooling assembly/testing
- Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and process documentation
- Knowledge of manufacturing troubleshooting methods
- Basic root cause analysis tools:
- 5 Why
- Fishbone
- Pareto
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles
- Understanding of ESD controls in electronics manufacturing
- Experience with MES, SAP, or ERP systems
- Basic Excel skills for data tracking and KPI reporting
- Strong troubleshooting mindset
- Hands‑on technical aptitude
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Team collaboration
- Ability to work in fast‑paced production environment
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 35–50 lbs
- Ability to work around production equipment
- Use of PPE as required
- Manufacturing / production floor
- Fast‑paced electronics manufacturing environment
- May require shift flexibility, overtime, or weekend support during ramp builds
