Position: Quality Inspector I

Job Summary

Conducts quality inspections and tests to ensure that all parts and assemblies meet or exceed customer requirements, design specifications and company quality standards, dimensionally, in appearance and product reliability. Maintains calibration schedule on employee and company tools and provides repair assistance as required. Performs other duties incidental to the job as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct first part, in-process and final inspections of parts/assemblies in process to ensure operator accuracy and traceability documentation is complete – by monitoring dimensions and visual appearance of components per print, router specifications and quality plans.
  • Conduct various quality tests verifying conformance to design and print specifications, using equipment such as calipers, thickness gauge, micrometers, height gauge, hand gauges, computer radius gauge, pie tapes, optical comparator, manual CMM and precision hand measuring equipment.
  • Visually inspect parts for any defects including but not limited to blemishes, char, voids and cracks.
  • Maintain quality records as required by the Quality Management System.
  • Conduct incoming receiving inspections as required by the Quality Management System.
  • Request corrections of routers and prints, initiate NCR’s, MRB’s and CAR’s.
  • Communicate with Engineering and Manufacturing as needed.
  • Participate in problem solving analysis and solutions as requested.
Required

Minimum Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience using basic hand tools (calipers, micrometers, OGP, Manual CMM, Gage pins, etc.) in the inspection of parts.
  • Previous experience reading blueprints/applying basic shop math.
  • Basic mechanical skills and computer skills helpful.
  • Close visual attention, reasoning, and judgment required.
  • This position requires U.S. Person status as defined by applicable law for authorized access to data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
