Position: Manufacturing Engineer (Turbines)

Electrical & Controls Assembly Technician

The Electrical & Controls Assembly Technician supports the assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems for rotating equipment packages, including gas turbines and compressors. This role requires strong hands-on electrical and mechanical skills, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and strict adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings (English/metric).
  • Assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot control panels, conduit systems, cable trays, and wire terminations.
  • Perform electrical assembly on gas turbines, compressors, and related rotating equipment.
  • Work with Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Fire & Gas systems, generator control systems, and vibration monitoring instrumentation.
  • Apply NEC, IEC, and standards for hazardous and intrinsically safe areas.
  • Operate hand tools, air-powered tools, torque wrenches, and shop machinery.
  • Document and chart test results per production and turbine assembly procedures.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and test documentation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Parts, and Operations teams.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or 10+ years of relevant industrial electrician experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical assembly, control panel wiring, or rotating equipment manufacturing.
  • Proficiency reading electrical blueprints and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with breakers, disconnects, starters, relays, overloads, and timers.
  • Ability to work with wire sizes 18 AWG to 1/0 AWG.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
