Location: Houston, TX 77051
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour (DOE)
Night Shift Differential: Additional 10% on top of base pay
Weekly Pay: Day & Night Shift Available
Position OverviewApache Workforce is seeking experienced Plasma Cutting Operators (Messer / HGG) for a leading manufacturing facility in Houston. The ideal candidate will have fabrication experience and the ability to safely operate plasma cutting equipment, CNC machinery, and other manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate plasma cutters, laser cutters, lathes, milling machines, grinders, saws, robotic welders, and CNC-controlled equipment
- Load CNC programs and adjust machine settings including torch height, gas settings, speeds, and stops
- Read blueprints, cut lists, and technical drawings accurately
- Measure materials and monitor cut quality to ensure production standards are met
- Perform basic nesting and understand beam geometry and structural shapes
- Troubleshoot machine issues and cutting defects
- Operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and inspections
- Maintain production records, inventory levels, and machine documentation
- Follow OSHA safety standards and company safety procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area utilizing 5S principles
- Minimum 2 years of fabrication experience
- Experience operating plasma cutters, laser cutters, lathes, milling machines, grinders, or similar manufacturing equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory management
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Good communication and teamwork skills - Ability to troubleshoot machine and production issues
- Machine Operation Certification
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Vocational training or machine operation certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
- Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts and overtime as required
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when necessary
- Required PPE includes steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and hard hat
