Structural Fitter – 1st Shift

Openwork is seeking experienced Structural Fitters to join a respected manufacturer of premium steel and aluminum bar grating in Northeast Houston. What You'll Do:

• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
• Measure, mark, cut, grind, and prepare steel components for fabrication.
• Fit and tack weld materials according to specifications.
• Assemble grating panels, stair treads, frames, and other structural components.
• Safely operate forklifts, hoists, and overhead cranes.
• Inspect finished assemblies to ensure dimensional accuracy within a 1/8-inch tolerance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Work closely with welders, supervisors, and team members to meet production goals.

What We're Looking For:

• 3–5 years of structural fitting, fabrication, or related manufacturing experience.
• Ability to successfully complete a Handrail Fit-Up Test.
• Strong blueprint reading and layout skills.
• Experience using hand tools, grinders, cutting torches, and measuring equipment.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an active manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to quality workmanship.
