Job Description & How to Apply Below
At Powell, our switch gear and electrical systems help keep the world on. As a Senior Shop Materials Coordinator in Southeast Houston, you’ll ensure every workstation has the right materials at the right time—so our builders can focus on quality and speed.
Schedule:
Monday–Thursday, 2:15 p.m.–12:45 a.m.; overtime as needed.
Picture This You arrive, review demand signals, and replenish kits before the first build starts. A scanner updates inventory in real time as you stage hardware. A quick huddle with the production lead confirms priorities. A hot part arrives—your forklift run gets it where it needs to go. Quality, safety, and flow stay on track because of your organization and judgment.
Your Responsibilities Receive, stage, store, and document materials with precision.
Collaborate with supervisors and teammates to anticipate material needs.
Stock and restock hardware and components at assigned cells.
Record transactions using scanners and designated computer programs.
Transport, load, and unload materials by forklift when required.
Comply with all safety policies to prevent incidents.
Follow manufacturing procedures and standard work to support consistent output.
Safeguard product quality by adhering to process instructions and escalating risks.
Experience & Capabilities High school diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum 4 years of material handling in a manufacturing environment.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced production setting.
Aptitude with computer systems, databases, and software tools.
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, and stay physically active for extended periods.
English fluency for effective communication.
Preferred Background Forklift experience.

Mindset & Work Habits Multitasker with sharp attention to detail.
Keeps work areas orderly and labeled.
Self-driven and anticipatory.
Open to flexible scheduling, including days, nights, and weekends as needed.

PPE required: safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection as needed, and fall-protection equipment when required.
Comfortable using step ladders, A-frame ladders, and scissor lifts for overhead work.
Tasks at heights up to approximately 10 feet on elevated structures using proper lift equipment.
Physical Requirements Maintain balance and agility to prevent falls when walking, standing, crouching, and using stairs or step ladders.

Stand and walk continuously.
Frequent overhead work and full extension with both arms.
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequent use of hand tools and power tools.
