Position OverviewThe Manufacturing Technician – Electro-Mechanical Operator is responsible for operating, adjusting, and monitoring specialized paper and cardboard converting, cutting, winding, and folding machinery. Reporting directly to the Production Team Leader, this position relies on the execution of precise technical parameters and dimensional controls to consistently meet standard manufacturing production rates, minimize material waste, and fulfill client quality specifications. Operating on the production floor, this role seamlessly combines advanced technical machine operation with physical material handling to ensure safe, efficient downstream tissue production workflows.
Key Responsibilities Production Line Operation & Calibration- Align machinery workflows to consistently fulfill target output objectives, corporate project goals, and high-speed line milestones.
- Apply advanced technical knowledge of industrial measurement systems and tools to gauge and monitor dimensional tolerances of paper substrates.
- Demonstrate expert mechanical knowledge and precision execution when setting up, reconfiguring, and calibrating advanced machine formats during product changeovers.
- Execute high-quality autonomous maintenance routines, equipment care, and diagnostic checks on specialized conversion lines.
- Safely and efficiently mount, dismount, and inspect industrial bearings and high-speed rotational machine components.
- Perform authorized maintenance rigging and material handling maneuvers for heavy machinery loads, roll assemblies, and equipment blocks.
- Utilize basic mechanical principles to perform minor technical repairs, tooling configurations, and physical equipment adjustments.
- Diagnose and resolve basic pneumatic system faults, effectively tracking air lines, pressure regulators, and cylinder mechanisms.
- Apply basic electronics knowledge to interpret diagnostic panels, resolve sensor errors, and manage machine automation interfaces.
- Apply basic electrical principles to safely navigate line control enclosures, breakers, and primary switches during equipment operations.
- Execute full equipment Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols prior to conducting minor mechanical interventions or machinery adjustments to ensure absolute physical safety.
- Identify and immediately report critical quality deviations affecting the finished product, and coordinate priority support from maintenance teams for complex machinery faults.
- Experience:
Advanced operational familiarity with high-speed industrial paper conversion machinery, packaging lines, or similar complex production line setups. - Technical Knowledge:
Strong baseline in industrial cutting, folding, stapling, and gluing techniques for paper/cardboard substrates, along with precision measurement skills and real-time high-speed line monitoring. - Education:
High school diploma or technical degree preferred. - Certifications:
None required; foundational Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) compliance knowledge is highly preferred. - Work Authorization:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Postures & Stamina:
Physical capability to stand and walk constantly across the manufacturing floor for prolonged durations. - Lifting Requirements:
Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull manufacturing items, shipping boxes, master paper rolls, and scrap material weighing from 0 to 50 lbs. - Movements:
Physical capacity to bend, twist, crouch, climb elevated supervision ladders, and safely enter restricted machinery spaces for authorized minor adjustments or inspections. - Environment:
Continuous exposure to high-speed industrial machinery noise, greased mechanical components, floating paper dust, airborne particles, moderate heights, confined spaces, and plant temperature fluctuations. - Required PPE:
Mandatory use of company-provided safety boots, protective eyewear, hearing protection, hairnets/caps, cut-resistant gloves, and high-visibility vests.
