Position: Precision Conventional Machinist (Lathes & Mills)

A day in the shop

At our Houston, TX (77043) facility, you'll begin by reviewing blueprints and specifications, planning your setup for manual lathes and mills. You'll dial in tooling, verify zero points, and take careful cuts to achieve tight tolerances. Throughout the run, you'll measure, inspect, and adjust to ensure every component meets quality standards. You'll keep machines in top condition with routine maintenance, partner with engineers to troubleshoot any machining challenges, and maintain an organized, safe work area.

Before you wrap up, you'll document your process and record production and inspection data so the next build is even better.

What you'll handle
  • Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and related conventional equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan work.
  • Measure and inspect parts to confirm conformity with required tolerances.
  • Perform routine maintenance to sustain machine performance and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineers and teammates to troubleshoot machining issues.
  • Keep the workspace clean, organized, and compliant with safety protocols.
  • Document processes and maintain accurate production and inspection records.
What you'll bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent; machining trade school or certification is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience as a manual machinist or in a closely related role.
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, and materials.
  • Fluency in reading technical documents, prints, and specifications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Comfort working independently and within a collaborative team.
  • Familiarity with shop safety standards and best practices.
