Job Title

This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by: helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items; helping members prepare for an respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church.

Responsibilities

Work with Inventory Specialist on annual assignments

Forecast production needs and create production schedule using production planning software to meet demands

Manage and order inventories to produce and ship finished goods

Project and schedule volunteer needs for daily labor production.

Schedule and coordinate the work activities of full and part time employee, volunteers, and service missionaries based upon production need in each area.

Review daily production work and paperwork to assure quality, accuracy, and production of safe food products.

Provide leadership, employee development as well as cross training opportunities, supervision, and training for all full and part time employees, volunteers, and service missionaries. (Volunteers represent up to 50% of daily workforce and change every three hours.)

Ensure personnel are properly cross trained to ensure operation can always function with high output.

Responsible for trainings for employees, missionaries, and volunteers, on worker safety, food quality, and food safety.

Conduct meaningful discussion with employees to ensure proper understanding of production processes and standards.

Assist manager in succession planning and creates stretch assignments and cross training assignments for future leadership.

Assist manager with invoice approvals.

Manage all schedule requirements for all employees including payroll time approval.

Setup interviews, interview, and take part in decision making of new employees.

Conduct and oversee the safety committee and meetings.

Assist manager in planning and leading projects for R&I/capital equipment needs and facility needs to improve plant operations and efficiencies.

Partner with the Quality Control supervisor to ensure that all finished goods meet food safety and quality specifications.

Supervise and oversee multiple production lines simultaneously.

Ensure consistent product quality by documenting and maintain production processes, training employees, and monitoring actual practices.

Ensure compliance with all HACCP, GMP's, SOP's, and USDA regulations.

Work with inspectors daily.

Adhere to annual capital and operating budgets.

On call 24/7

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or 6 years' experience in a production environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude with strong maintenance skills and experience
  • Skilled at troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent understanding of HACCP/HARPC, and GMP's
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be effective in written and verbal communication with employees, missionaries, and volunteers.
  • Working knowledge of USDA and FDA Regulations
  • Working knowledge of budgets and forecasting
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Must be capable of climbing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to communicate, convey and receive instruction accurately in supervisory role to encourage effective teamwork of employees, missionaries, and volunteers.

Preferred:

  • Food production experience
  • Previous leadership experience
