Ethos Energy is seeking a 2nd Shift CNC Machinist to join our team in Houston, TX. In this hands-on role, you’ll set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce high-quality, precision components and instruments. You’ll play a key part in fabricating, modifying, and repairing mechanical instruments, as well as supporting the maintenance and improvement of industrial machinery. Success in this role requires a strong foundation in mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, and machining processes, along with a keen attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Job Responsibilities- Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related equipment to produce precision parts.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, samples, and engineering information to determine machining methods and work sequences.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring tools, including micrometers and calipers.
- Align, secure, and adjust fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials for machining operations.
- Monitor machine operation, feed, speed, lubrication, and cooling to ensure quality and proper performance.
- Inspect, measure, and test completed parts to identify defects and confirm conformance to specifications.
- Program, test, and verify CNC or electronic equipment to ensure output meets requirements.
- Diagnose equipment issues and perform basic maintenance, repairs, part replacement, and equipment installation as needed.
- Assemble machine tools, fixtures, components, and mechanical, electromechanical, or hydraulic systems.
- Lay out, mark, and prepare materials or work pieces for cutting, forming, welding, assembly, or fabrication.
- Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, testing, and final completion.
- Create sketches, diagrams, blueprints, fixtures, tooling, or experimental parts to support production or engineering needs.
- Communicate with engineering, supervisory, manufacturing, and programming teams to exchange technical information and confirm requirements.
- Evaluate machining procedures and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, adaptability, quality, or process effectiveness.
- Sort, recycle, and dispose of scrap or waste materials in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Ability to safely operate, monitor, and troubleshoot machines, equipment, and control systems.
- Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of machine and tool operation, maintenance, repair, and adjustment.
- Knowledge of quality, safety, compliance, production processes, and manufacturing methods.
- Ability to inspect and evaluate materials, parts, equipment, and finished work for quality, accuracy, and defects.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Working knowledge of basic math, measurement concepts, and accurate information processing.
- Strong reading comprehension and ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, plans, models, and technical documentation.
- Ability to safely handle, position, move, and install materials or components.
- Ability to contribute ideas that improve processes, tooling, products, or work-area efficiency.
- Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting manual and/or CNC machine tools in a manufacturing or machining environment.
- Hands-on experience using precision measuring instruments, reading blueprints, and inspecting parts for quality and conformance to specifications.
- Experience performing basic equipment maintenance, adjustments, repairs, and part replacement preferred.
- Familiarity with machining processes, tooling, fixtures, material handling, and production safety practices.
- Ability to work from technical documentation and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supervisory, and programming teams.
- High School Diploma is Required
- Technical School Degree and/or some College/Associates Degree preferred
- Walk, reach, climb, stoop and lift (up to 35 pounds)
