Altamira Material Solutions seeks a CNC Lathe Operator to produce precision components for advanced metal matrix composite products. In this role, you'll set up and operate CNC lathes, load programs, adjust tooling and offsets, and verify parts using precision measuring tools to meet tight tolerances and quality standards. You'll collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, support continuous improvement and 5S, follow all safety procedures, and document production data.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work with innovative materials and processes in a high-performance manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to produce precision components to specification
  • Load and verify CNC programs; make basic edits and adjust offsets as needed
  • Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other tools
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine specifications
  • Monitor machine performance, tool wear, and part quality; take corrective actions
  • Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and housekeeping/5
  • S standards
  • Document production data, inspection results, and nonconformances
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians on process improvements
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and report equipment issues promptly

Required Skills

  • CNC lathe setup and operation
  • G-code interpretation and basic program editing
  • Reading blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Tool selection, offsets, and wear compensation
  • Working to tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
  • Basic shop math and dimensional inspection
  • Understanding of manufacturing safety procedures
  • Preventive maintenance on CNC machines
  • Documentation of production and quality records
