Job Details
Job Title: Extrusion Operator
Location: Houston, TX 77041
Responsibilities- Setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion machinery designated to melt resin and shape plastic sheets.
- Adjust tooling and processing parameters to meet product specifications.
- Monitor defects and machine malfunctions.
- Follow safety procedures and sanitation regulations.
- Ensure all parameters of safety, food safety, and quality are complied to minimize workplace hazards.
- Immediately report to supervisor any incident or unsafe condition identified in the workplace.
- Review working conditions of the extruder and dosing equipment.
- Verify all additives are in the correct tank by visually reviewing the additive inventory, including dashboard.
- Coordinate with weaving material handler to transfer yarn to the weaving department.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor operational issues or malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Check function of winders and temperature and operation of chillers.
- Measure material density, cohesion, and adhesion.
- Be vigilant of the material that is left and check the silos.
- Maintain area organized and clean.
- Fill out production reports accurately with attention.
- Perform all tasks with a sense of urgency and accuracy.
- Conduct other duties as assigned by management.
- Ability to work independently.
- Mechanical ability to run equipment and use small hand tools.
- Basic math and measuring ability.
- Mental alertness to identify and react to machine process, quality and safety issues.
- Ability to be organized, multitask and keep up in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality output in a timely and efficient manner.
- Able to read and write.
- Repetitive bending, stooping and reaching for extended periods.
- Knowledge of GMPs, FSSC 22000:2005 and HACCP.
- Plastics manufacturing.
- Machinery operations.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to operate basic tools and measuring devices (tape measure, scale, etc.).
- Ability for repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, carrying for extended periods.
- Work primarily on the manufacturing floor, which may involve exposure to loud noises, machinery, high temperatures and chemicals.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
