Location

Houston, TX - On-site. This is a hands-on shop leadership position where you'll be present with the fabrication team and directly involved in daily operations.

Note

Must have 5+ years of welding and/or structural steel fabrication experience and 2+ years of experience supervising welders, fabricators, or a comparable skilled-trades production team.

Job Description
  • Lead and oversee daily welding and structural steel fabrication shop operations.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop welders, fabricators, and other shop personnel.
  • Plan and coordinate production activities to meet schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, materials, equipment, and production priorities.
  • Review fabrication work, drawings, measurements, and finished products for quality and accuracy.
  • Help establish and maintain efficient welding and fabrication processes.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement practical improvements to increase productivity.
  • Enforce shop safety procedures, housekeeping standards, and proper use of equipment and PPE.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, purchasing, and other teams to keep jobs moving efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot fabrication issues and provide hands-on guidance when technical challenges arise.
  • Monitor labor, material usage, rework, and production performance.
  • Help ensure projects are completed accurately, safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of welding and/or structural steel fabrication experience.
  • 2+ years supervising welders, fabricators, or skilled-trades production personnel.
  • Strong understanding of welding and structural steel fabrication processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and measurements.
  • Strong knowledge of shop safety practices and quality standards.
  • Proven ability to organize production priorities and manage multiple jobs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment.
  • Ability to hold team members accountable while maintaining a collaborative, professional culture.
