This role focuses on fitting and fabricating silencers, pressure vessels, and large valves, primarily using carbon steel. You will assemble vessels, pipes, and shells, install lifting supports and legs on rolled plate, and fit weld caps, flanges, and nozzles onto material. The position requires strong blueprint reading skills, basic math abilities, and the capability to perform light welding using MIG and flux core processes.
Experience with pipe or vessel fitting is essential, and you will regularly operate fabrication equipment such as presses, punches, saws, and torches.
- Fabricate silencers, pressure vessels, and large valves using primarily carbon steel materials.
- Fit and assemble vessels, pipes, and shells, ensuring accurate alignment and structural integrity.
- Install lifting supports and legs onto rolled plate in accordance with specifications and safety standards.
- Fit weld caps onto pipe and properly fit up flanges and nozzles onto material.
- Burn holes as required, then clean, bevel, and square them to meet fabrication requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints to plan and execute fitting and fabrication tasks accurately.
- Perform basic math calculations to support measurements, layouts, and material usage.
- Carry out light welding using MIG and flux core processes on various components as needed.
- Utilize sub arc welding capabilities when applicable to support production needs.
- Operate fabrication machines such as presses, punches, saws, torches, and plasma torch safely and efficiently.
- Work with various gauges of material, adjusting techniques to maintain quality and precision.
- Collaborate with the team to meet production schedules and maintain consistent output.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area within the shop.
- At least 5 years of fitting and fabrication experience.
- Proven ability to fit vessels and pipe with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong blueprint reading skills and the ability to interpret fabrication drawings.
- Ability to perform basic math to support measurements and layouts.
- Proficiency in MIG welding and flux core welding for light fabrication tasks.
- Experience using a plasma torch for cutting and fabrication work.
- Hands-on experience in pipe fitting and vessel fitting in a fabrication environment.
- Ability to work comfortably with carbon steel materials and various component types.
- Capability to use fabrication machines such as presses, punches, saws, and torches.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to weld using sub arc processes.
- Ability to weld using TIG processes.
- Experience working with various gauges of material and adapting techniques accordingly.
- Comfort operating a range of fabrication equipment in a production shop environment.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a clean, air-conditioned fabrication shop. Shifts include one day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and one night shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., operating Monday through Friday and most Saturdays and Sundays. You need to be comfortable working 13-hour shifts when business demands are high. The position is part of an open-ended contract with work expected through the end of the year and likely beyond.
You will regularly work with fabrication machines such as presses, punches, saws, torches, and plasma torches in a production-focused environment.
This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX 77032.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
