The Machinist role at Turbo Machine Technology, Inc. is a full-time, on-site position based in Houston, TX. The Machinist will set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC machines to produce precision components, tooling, and specialty fasteners for turbine repair and oil field applications. Daily responsibilities include reading and interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate tooling and materials, performing accurate measurements, and ensuring all parts meet quality and safety standards.
The role also involves troubleshooting machining issues, performing routine equipment maintenance, collaborating with supervisors and engineers on custom fixtures, and documenting work in accordance with shop procedures. The Machinist is expected to contribute to efficient production workflows and support a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Strong machining skills, including experience with manual and CNC mills, lathes, and related shop equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications for precision components and tooling.
- Proficiency with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and basic shop math to ensure tight tolerances and quality.
- Knowledge of materials commonly used in turbine, hydraulic tooling, and oil field applications (e.g., alloy steels, stainless steels).
- Understanding of machining safety practices, proper equipment handling, and adherence to shop policies and procedures.
- Experience in manufacturing parts for turbines, hydraulic tooling, or oil field equipment is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively, follow instructions, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing job priorities.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in machining or a related field is preferred.
