Gas Turbine Rotor Mechanic Specialist-2nd Shift

Build your career with Ethos Energy as a 2nd Shift Mechanical Gas Turbine Rotor Specialist at our Houston, TX gas turbine repair facility. In this critical, hands‑on role, you will plan and coordinate complex repairs on gas turbine rotating equipment, including inspection, disassembly, machining, assembly, blading, and balancing to exacting tolerances. You will evaluate customer equipment, develop safe and cost‑effective repair plans, manage production documentation in the ERP system, and partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management to ensure each project meets customer requirements and Ethos Energy standards.

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of turbo machinery repair experience, including two to three years in a manufacturing or repair shop, along with customer relations and project planning experience. A high school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred, and an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. CAD or PMP certification is a plus.

Shift: Monday‑Friday, 3:30 p.m.

-12:00 a.m., with overtime available based on business needs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review job releases, equipment history, and supporting documentation to confirm the scope of work and prepare incoming inspection packages.
  • Build and maintain ERP job records, shop work packages, inspection forms, and related production documentation.
  • Review drawings, specifications, work instructions, and inspection results to verify compliance with Ethos Energy and OEM standards.
  • Develop repair scopes and cost estimates covering labor, materials, outside services, and required technical resources.
  • Coordinate scope, estimates, and technical requirements with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Commercial, and leadership.
  • Lead project scope reviews, document agreed changes, and update cost workbooks and ERP records as needed.
  • Initiate purchases for parts, materials, and vendor services; monitor supplier deliverables and resolve issues with Supply Chain.
  • Partner with Manufacturing on make‑or‑buy decisions and support production schedules, including overtime when required.
  • Prepare RFQ estimates and extra‑work cost authorizations in coordination with Commercial, Engineering, Manufacturing, and management.
  • Identify process improvements and continuously expand technical knowledge of rotating equipment and repair methods.
Required Skills / Knowledge
  • Gas turbine expertise:
    Strong knowledge of gas turbine operating principles, rotor and stator components, compressor, combustion, and turbine sections across industrial and aero‑derivative systems.
  • Technical interpretation:
    Ability to read OEM manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, specifications, tolerances, repair procedures, and work instructions.
  • Component repair:
    Experience disassembling, assembling, inspecting, and repairing casings, rotors, shafts, diaphragms, blades, and vanes; able to identify wear, erosion, corrosion, and foreign object damage.
  • Precision measurement:
    Proficiency with micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, digital calipers, height and depth gauges, runout equipment, and alignment tools.
  • Shop practices:
    Knowledge of machining tolerances, grinding, polishing, balancing, lifting, and rigging, with the ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Quality and documentation:
    Skilled in performing in‑process and dimensional inspections, documenting results, reporting nonconformances, and maintaining accurate repair and service records in CMMS or ERP systems in accordance with ISO and OEM standards.
