Core Specialist II - SCAL

Test and analyze geological samples, crude oil, or petroleum products to detect presence of petroleum, gas, or mineral deposits indicating potential for exploration and/or production per customer requirements and protocol, at an intermediate level.

Required to follow all QHSSE and Compliance policies and procedures and complete training by using all systems as defined by Stratum. You are responsible for creating opportunities for improvement, report and investigate incidents, non-conformities, and operative issues. Employees must submit STAR cards and report any risks identified on the job. Participation in meetings and general activities created to help in prevent risks is required.

The employee is responsible to stop the job and assess whether the conditions are safe to continue work. If applicable, must be responsible for completing all required QHSSE and Compliance reporting.

• Use established industry protocols, test, and analyze samples in order to determine their characteristics, using laboratory apparatus and testing equipment.
• Prepare solid and fluid samples for analysis.
• Assume greater responsibility in day-to-day operations with minimum supervision.
• Assemble, operate, and maintain laboratory testing, measuring, and mechanical equipment.
• Compile and record testing and operational data for review and further analysis.
• Perform daily tasks in a timely manner.
• Meet all daily and monthly production requirements.
• Must understand and comply with all safety rules, confidentiality practices and company policies of Stratum Reservoir.
• Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
• Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
• Present to clients the status of projects.
• Adjust and repair testing, electrical, and mechanical equipment and devices.
• Formation Damage Testing Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Knowledge and understanding of specific and effective permeability measurements
• Ability to recognize and troubleshoot common testing difficulties (i.e. blockages, etc.)
• Ability to be attentive to details and record thorough notes
• Prepare, evaluate, and work with gases, liquids, caustic and drill in fluids
• Assemble a flow system for formation damage permeability testing
• Operate and maintain formation damage permeability equipment
• Perform formation damage permeability testing and collect respective data
• Ability to evaluate formation damage permeability data to completion, with minimum supervision
• Ability to perform static testing with fluids and/or rocks

• Basic knowledge of computer systems. Microsoft office, special Excel and Word
• Ability to verbally communicate well with all levels of employees
• Must be able to follow written protocols
• 2+ years Formation Damage experience
• Ability to speak in front of clients

• Have a good working knowledge of the complete Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. In Excel a good knowledge of data graphing and building equations.
• Good insight in mechanical and electrical process.
• Experience with high pressure and high temperature laboratory testing
• Experience with flow-through porous media laboratory testing
