The
Corrosion Laboratory Technician will perform the routine duties necessary to ensure that laboratory services are of the highest quality, and to ensure that such services are provided in a timely, safe, legal, and ethical manner.

Under moderate supervision, to perform the routine duties necessary to ensure that laboratory services are of the highest quality, and to ensure that such services are provided in a timely, safe, legal, and ethical manner.
Specific Responsibilities- To receive, examine, and record through a log-in process, inbound items for testing.
- To deliver test samples to the sample staging area.
- Clean glassware and other lab wares using specified procedure
- To monitor the availability of the supplies needed for the testing processes, and to make any needs for such supplies known to Laboratory Management.
- To prepare samples and quality control specimens, to prepare and standardize reagents and solutions, and to calibrate equipment needed for the testing processes.
- Prepare corrosion coupons for experiments
- To prepare microbiological growth media and maintain microbial cultures.
- Conduct biocide-microbial kill testing
- Conduct microbial growth control utilizing sand pack and Sidestream apparatus
- Perform inorganic scale inhibitor testing
- Conduct rotating cylinder electrode (RCE) experiments, measuring the corrosion rate via electrochemistry
- Perform coupon weight loss experiments in autoclaves at temperature and pressure
- Operate corrosion coupon flow loop equipment for inhibitor evaluation
- Safely utilize a variety of chemicals including biocides, acids, corrosion inhibitors, flammable liquids
- To verify and communicate the results obtained, and to make the appropriate entries into instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets, and any other media, whether print or electronic, required to ensure the validity and traceability of the information.
- To maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat and orderly condition.
- To assist in the training of less experience employees.
- To carry out the above responsibilities, and all others which may be assigned, in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company’s Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and strategy, and to exercise good judgment, commons sense, and diplomacy in so doing.
- The Laboratory Technician I-Corrosion is expected to have a Bachelor degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering (or a related science), with recent laboratory experience in corrosion and/or inorganic scale testing.
