Maintenance Technician

United Soft Plastics, Inc. is a growing plastics manufacturing company committed to safety, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our Houston, Texas operations team.

This is a hands-on position responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing equipment and machinery. The technician will work closely with production personnel to identify equipment problems, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, minimize downtime, and improve equipment efficiency and reliability.

The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment, and the ability to diagnose and repair equipment with minimal supervision. Experience in plastics manufacturing or extrusion is a plus.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and implement repairs to minimize production downtime.
• Identify and troubleshoot electrical faults in industrial equipment and control systems.
• Support preventive maintenance programs and help improve maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Work with production personnel to improve equipment performance, efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
• Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Recommend and assist with equipment modifications and process improvements.
• Coordinate with engineering and outside technical resources as needed.
• Perform equipment cleanouts and guide operators on proper equipment operation and care.
• Support facility maintenance as needed.
• Maintain inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, safety equipment, and consumables.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Follow company safety, GMP, quality, and operating procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and other assigned maintenance-related duties.

Required:

• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to diagnose equipment problems and complete repairs independently.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Plastics manufacturing or extrusion equipment experience.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• HVAC maintenance experience.
• Experience developing or improving preventive maintenance programs.
• Experience with equipment modifications, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• This is a full-time, on-site position in Houston, Texas.
• The position requires schedule flexibility to support production and maintenance needs, including some night work and occasional weekends as needed for scheduled maintenance or equipment repairs.
• Limited travel to other company facilities may be required.
• The position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work around industrial manufacturing equipment for extended periods.
