DescriptionCoordinates communications activities in support of a university program, including, but not limited to, publications, newsletters, annual reports, web site, and informational and solicitation materials.
The communications coordinator serves as the primary visual storyteller for the Hobby School of Public Affairs, creating photography and video content that advances the school’s mission and programs while supporting social media platforms through scheduling posts. This role plays a key part in showcasing the school’s teaching, research, internships and events across digital and print platforms.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Capture and edit high-quality photographs of school events, student experiences, programs and other activities for use across various platforms, including the school's website, newsletters and marketing materials.
- Shoot and edit short-form video content for a variety of platforms, including social media, You Tube shorts and other digital marketing needs.
- Maintains the school's digital library of photographs and video assets.
- Research emerging social media and content trends and recommend approaches to support student recruitment and program promotion.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, students and alumni on media-related projects.
- Maintain and manage media-related equipment.
- Manage daily activity across the Hobby School's and the dean's social media platforms, scheduling posts using a social media management platform.
- Monitor social media audience engagement, responding to comments and messages.
- Analyze social media content performance using reports from a social media management platform and offer recommendations to improve content strategy and engagement.
The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:
- Experience in creative storytelling and digital content creation to build awareness and engagement with audiences.
- Experience managing social media platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Experience will be considered in lieu of education.

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
