Houston Pets Alive! is seeking a confident, strategic, highly organized, and hands-on Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the organization's marketing, communications, public relations, content, and event presence. This position is responsible for ensuring that HPA! presents a consistent, professional, compelling, and recognizable voice and brand across all platforms and public-facing opportunities. The Marketing & Communications Manager is both a leader and doer.

This person sets marketing priorities, develops campaigns, directs the Marketing Coordinator, manages communications, oversees digital channels, represents HPA! publicly, and owns the successful planning and execution of organizational events. The ideal candidate has a strong executive presence and is comfortable being the person people see and hear when HPA! is representing itself publicly. They must be confident and engaging on camera, in front of a crowd, with donors, with media, with community partners, and s person must be able to move comfortably between strategy and execution: developing the plan, assigning the work, following up, solving problems, and making sure the finished product meets HPA!'s

standards.

Key Responsibilities Marketing Leadership & Strategy

Develop and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with HPA!'s priorities. Develop campaigns and annual marketing plans supporting adoptions, fundraising, veterinary services, community awareness, and lifesaving programs. Coordinate marketing needs across departments and maintain project calendars and deadlines. Direct, prioritize, and oversee the work of the Marketing Coordinator. Provide feedback, coaching, and direction while maintaining accountability for results. Review work for quality, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with HPA!'s

brand. Monitor marketing performance and use results to improve campaigns. Serve as the primary marketing advisor to the Executive Director and leadership team.

Public Relations & Communications

Serve as a primary public-facing representative of HPA!, including television, radio, podcasts, videos, community presentations, and other opportunities. Develop talking points, key messages, press releases, media advisories, and other communications. Build relationships with local media, identify compelling stories, and proactively pitch them. Coordinate media interviews and prepare staff, animals, and materials for media opportunities. Protect and strengthen HPA!'s reputation through thoughtful, consistent communications.

Digital

Marketing & Brand

Own social media strategy and content calendars across Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Linked In, and other appropriate platforms. Create and/or oversee photo, video, written, and graphic content. Manage digital advertising, including Meta and Google campaigns as appropriate. Oversee the website, Word Press updates, email marketing, and newsletters. Monitor digital performance and use analytics to guide decisions. Maintain HPA!'s brand identity, voice, and public presentation across digital, print, event, and other materials.

Event

Planning & Execution

The Marketing & Communications Manager owns HPA!'s marketing and communications presence at events and is responsible for the overall planning and execution of assigned organizational events. Lead adoption, fundraising, community, partner, and organizational events from concept through post-event follow-up. Develop event plans, timelines, budgets, checklists, staffing plans, and production schedules. Coordinate venues, vendors, entertainment, equipment, supplies, signage, displays, staff, and volunteers.

Work across departments to ensure event needs are identified and addressed. Oversee setup, execution, and breakdown and serve as the primary point of contact for event logistics. Anticipate problems and make decisions quickly during live events. Ensure events are professional, organized, welcoming, engaging, and aligned with organizational goals. Oversee sponsor and partner recognition, event marketing, branding, and communications and post-event reporting.

Public

Presence & Storytelling

Represent HPA! at major events and community activities; speak to groups, address crowds, interact with donors and supporters, and act as a host or emcee when appropriate. Ensure HPA!'s booth, signage, staff, volunteers, and animals present a cohesive and professional experience. Identify and develop compelling stories around rescue, adoption, veterinary services, foster care, volunteers, donors, and community impact. Direct the creation of photo, video, written, and multimedia content.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of professional marketing, communications, public relations, event management, or related experience. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketing campaigns and events from concept through completion.
