What’s a typical day as a Communications Specialist? You’ll be:
  • Developing and executing integrated communications in support of major capital projects, ensuring consistent messaging across multiple channels.
  • Crafting project narratives, message platforms, and strategic communications informed by research, media, social media monitoring, and public opinion.
  • Translating complex technical, regulatory, and commercial information into clear, impactful communications for both external and internal audiences.
  • Supporting media relations, including proactive storytelling, rapid-response to emerging issues, drafting media materials, and preparing executive spokespeople.
  • Overseeing content development for websites, social media, fact sheets, explainer materials, videos, infographics, and internal communications.
  • Managing content calendars tied to key project milestones and coordinating messaging with stakeholder coalitions and third-party supporters.
  • Measuring communications effectiveness, monitoring public sentiment, and recommending strategy refinements.
  • Collaborating closely with business units, engagement teams, project leadership, and subject matter experts to deliver world-class communications.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
  • Hold a Bachelors degree in communications, business, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Bring at least 8 years of progressive communications experience—preferably in major projects, infrastructure, energy, or regulated industries.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of external communications, media relations, issues management, strategic messaging, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Exhibit exceptional writing, storytelling, and analytical skills for producing concise, compelling communications.
  • Are execution-focused, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs on tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Are audience-centric—understanding the needs of diverse groups including the public, Indigenous communities, government, media, and employees.
  • Possess experience with communications measurement, media/social media monitoring, and performance tracking.
  • Have a collaborative, team-oriented attitude and can build relationships across all levels of a large organization.
  • Value integrity, safety, respect, and diversity in the workplace.
