Must be able to work various schedules:
Sunday through Saturday 7:00am - 4:00pm, 10:30am - 7:30pm & every other weekend
The Community Service Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Blue Badge Volunteers (BBV) and special groups to meet the needs of the Houston Food Bank (HFB) and ensuring these volunteers are trained for their volunteer work. This position recruits and schedules volunteers, captures volunteer data, and records volunteer service hours. The Community Service Coordinator tracks metrics used to evaluate the effectiveness of the HFB’s volunteer system and reports metrics to leadership.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience- High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate. Bachelor’s degree in social work, Communications, or a related field is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with in-person customer service
- Minimum of 1 year experience with scheduling and event coordination preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;
Knowledge of CRM systems - Ability to work with a diverse population, including public
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, as well as have a high-energy, enthusiastic can-do attitude.
- Skilled in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting
- Ability to coordinate well with other departments and personnel
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, partner agencies/schools, clients, donors, community organizations, and the public in both oral and written form.
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure
- Ability to work and think independently, use sound judgment, and apply critical analysis skills with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage multiple projects and quickly shift assignments as needed while maintaining satisfactory work
